Gordy (far left) died of a heart attack at the age of 40. He was one of the best big men in the business, and he and the Freebirds’ feud with the Von Erichs was one of the reasons I tuned in to World Class Championship Wrestling.
Gordy’s tag team partner and friend, Michael “P.S.” Hayes, recently released a tribute song on the anniversary of Gordy’s death. It’s no Badstreet U.S.A. but Hayes meant well.
