Edge and Christian win the first Tables, Ladders and Chairs match over the Dudleys and the Hardy Boyz at SummerSlam ‘00: August 27, 2000
Three letters forever changed WWE: TLC. Edge and Christian, Matt and Jeff Hardy, and Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley advanced upon the ladder matches of the past and added their own twists (tables and chairs). These six men destroyed their bodies and possibly shortened their careers, punishing each other with shots with chairs and ladders, big falls. There were too many bumps to list, but some highlights: Jeff Hardy crashing and burning after jumping off a ladder through a table to the arena floor when a Dudley brother moved; Edge and Christian pushed Bubba Ray off a ladder through stacked up tables on the outside of the ring; Matt Hardy met a similar fate.
Ultimately, Edge and Christian survived the match, keeping their tag team titles.
The tag teams weren’t the only ones taking big bumps. Steve Blackman kendo stick swatted Shane McMahon off a lighting rig for a giant fall. The Lethal Weapon followed with a big elbow and the pin to win the Hardcore Championship.
In the main event, The Rock retained the WWE Championship in a triple threat match with Triple H and Kurt Angle.
Also on the card:
Eddie Guerrero and Chyna won an Intercontinental Championship mixed tag over Trish Stratus and Val Venis with the Ninth Wonder of the World winning the strap.
Kane and The Undertaker wrestled to a no contest.
Chris Benoit won a two-out-of-three-falls match against Chris Jericho.
