Randy Orton becomes the youngest World Heavyweight Champion, defeating Chris Benoit at SummerSlam ‘04: August 15, 2004

The Age of Orton was cemented with his victory at SummerSlam ‘04 over Chris Benoit. The two put on a fantastic match that won’t get recognized for obvious reasons. Orton polished off the Crippler with an RKO and, at the time, the biggest win in his career.

Also not getting the recognition they deserve, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero for a grueling, back-and-forth match. Latino Heat would eventually fall victim to the ankle lock submission.

In other matches:

The Dudleys defeated Paul London, Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman

Kane won Lita’s hand in marriage by defeating Matt Hardy.

John Cena won the first match in his best-of-five series with Booker T.

Edge retained the Intercontinental Championship in a triple threat with Chris Jericho and Batista.

Triple H beat Eugene.

The Undertaker was disqualified against WWE Champion JBL.
