Shawn Michaels successfully defends the WWF Championship against Vader at SummerSlam ‘96: August 18, 1996
The Showstopper and the Mastodon fought over the WWF Championship at the ‘96 summer classic. Vader kicked out of Sweet Chin Music and power bombed Michaels, who proved his resilience by kicking out. Vader dragged HBK to a corner and attempted a moonsault but crashed and burned when Michaels moved (and he didn’t have far to go). Michaels slowly climbed to the top and moonsaulted onto the Man Called Vader for the 1-2-3.
In a “Boiler Room Brawl,” “Mankind” Mick Foley defeated the Undertaker in their stiff series of matches. Paul Bearer, the Phenom’s long-time manager, turned his back on the Deadman and ‘Taker’s own urn was used to bludgeon him for the win. More brutality than we could imagine — Hell in a Cell — was yet to come.
Somehow, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin couldn’t get on the main card. The Rattlesnake defeated Yokozuna when the rope broke under the nearly-600-pound sumo’s weight. The match was one of Yoko’s last in the WWE.
“Sycho” Sid Vicious appears on Big Brother: August 1, 2012
Frank Eudy, the son of the “Master and Ruler of the Universe,” is a contestant on the show. The story is Sid and Frank don’t have the best relationship — so there’s likely a happy reunion of father and son coming.
“Psycho” Sid Vicious made a surprise return to Monday Night Raw on June 25, 2012, and wait … he was wearing the same clothes — blue jeans, black boots and knee pads — that he was wearing when he suffered a sickening leg injury on the January 14, 2001, WCW Monday Nitro.
Sid looked a bit weathered and managed not to snap his leg. So who destroys Heath Slater next week?
