WWF Intercontinental Champion “the British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith: August 29, 1992 to October 27, 1992
I forgot how short Davey Boy’s Intercontinental Championship reign actually was — just about two months. The Bulldog would win the championship in a classic match with Bret “Hitman” Hart at SummerSlam and drop it to “the Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels on Saturday Night’s Main Event. He’d never win the belt again.

Rey Mysterio suffers a concussion at SummerSlam: August 23, 2012
WWE.com reports that Mysterio suffered a concussion in his failed bid for The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship. The website adds that the masked superstar likely suffered a concussion after being on the receiving end of a sit-down power bomb. The master of the 619 “is not medically cleared to compete” and has been pulled from all events, the website says.
The San Diego superstar will have to return to baseline (which means passing an impact/neuropsych test) before taking an exertion text. Mysterio must pass those tests before he’s cleared to return to the ring.
Walter Payton watches Razor Ramon’s back at SummerSlam ‘94: August 29, 1994
The Bad Guy (Scott Hall) was set to challenge his future Outsiders tag team partner, Diesel (Kevin Nash), for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam ‘94. But he needed an equalizer to Big Daddy Cool’s tag partner, Shawn Michaels. Enter Chicago Bears legend Walter Payton (SummerSlam originated from the United Center in the Windy City).
Sweetness tried to keep Michaels in check, although the Heartbreak Kid broke free long enough to attempt a super kick on Ramon, who was being held by Diesel. Ramon moved and Michaels gave his bodyguard Sweet Chin Music. Ramon pinned Diesel to capture the gold and celebrate with the Hall of Famer.

The Heartbreak Kid apologized to Triple H for not telling him the truth when he should have. Michaels added that his DX teammate had nothing to be ashamed of.

Chris Jericho defeats Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam: August 19, 2012
If tonight was Chris Jericho’s last night in WWE (for now due his Fozzy tour) then Y2J went out on top, making Dolph Ziggler tap out to the Walls of Jericho. And he did it all despite his DDP tribute of taped up ribs.

Sheamus retains the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam: August 19, 2012
Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez tried to cheat to win, but it backfired. Rodriguez threw a shoe to Del Rio but overshot him. Sheamus intercepted and whacked Del Rio with the shoe and hit the Irish Curse back breaker for the pin. However, Del Rio hooked the bottom rope with his leg, but the referee claimed not to have seen it.
Brock Lesnar mauls Triple H at SummerSlam: August 19, 2012
The Next Big Thing’s stomach is his weakness. Triple H did all he could to exploit it, but Lesnar was just too much for The Game and his injured arm. The crowd gave Triple H a mixed response at the end: boos and “you tapped out” chants versus cheers and “Triple H” chants.

Surprised the Prime Time Players lost tonight although I shouldn’t be. Blame A.W.

Dolph Ziggler loses to Chris Jericho at SummerSlam: August 19, 2012
Odd to say a former Undisputed Champion can’t win the big one, but Y2J defeated Mr. Money in the Bank at SummerSlam. The loss felt like a set up for Ziggler to cash in on the World Heavyweight Champion, but it wasn’t.
The Miz retained the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam: August 19, 2012
A hotshot and a Skull Crushing Finale put away Rey Mysterio. Nice to see Miz’s “Awesome” balloon.
