Tom Zenk and Rick Martel — the Can-Am Connection — break up: July 9, 1987
The Can-Am Connection looked like a team on the rise in the WWF. They earned a shot at the Hart Foundation’s WWF Tag Team Titles. But Zenk’s contract negotiations got in the way, and not long after, he was out of the company and on to the AWA and WCW, where he never broke out of the mid-card.
Martel found a new partner, Tito Santana, and a new team name, Strike Force. Martel and Santana also went on to capture the straps from the Hart Foundation on the October 27, 1987, edition of WWF Superstars.
